Announcing My Transition from Capella Space

I am excited to share a significant milestone in my journey with Capella — a company I founded in 2016.

After leading this incredible company from its inception in 2016, I am happy to announce an exciting transition. Effective October 23rd, I will be stepping down from my role as Capella’s CEO, passing the torch to Frank Backes, whom the company just hired after conducting an extensive search. I will remain on the board of Capella and will continue to champion Capella’s mission to the world.

I started Capella 7.5 years ago at the age of 24, and I am grateful for the extraordinary & transformative personal and professional experience. My proudest achievement is the incredible team that I was able to assemble, and together with my team, I have been able to accomplish wonderful things.

We raised over $250 million in venture capital, shattered barriers, and achieved what experts told us was “impossible.” We made history by launching the first-ever American commercial SAR satellite.

Because of Capella, commercial SAR has transformed from a “disregarded science” to a “must-have.” Capella is now a real business with real products, real revenue, and real customers — a rarity in the space industry. In fact, Capella is generating substantial revenue that has grown at more than 180% CAGR since our product launch in 2021.

Today, as I transition out of Capella, our brand and reputation stand as a beacon of innovation in the space industry, delivering life-saving solutions through our constellation of SAR satellites. I am deeply grateful to our dedicated team, investors, and stakeholders who have been instrumental in making this journey possible. There are too many to tag in this post.
